Color Project

Plan:

In Progress:

The theme that I have chosen is kind of a mixture between disguise and creature. The reason for this is because in my drawing, the person seems like it has a normal eye but as you take a look closer you realize it's an alligator eye. Basically disguising the eye of an animal on a human face, creating a sort of creature. The medium I've chosen to use are colored pencils. I did this because I thought it would be easier to bring out the characteristics of my art piece with this certain material. One difficulty that I have encountered while working on this project was lining up the facial features correctly. It's harder than it actually looks to draw an eye and make it fit perfectly on an art piece, but to my surprise, it is coming along better than I imagined.

Finished:

I really think my color project turned out very good. The area i'm mostly proud of was the eye shape and how it was proportional to the whole art piece. If I could go back and change one thing it would probably be to add a little more realistic features so that it would look even better. What I learned from this project is that taking your time with an art piece really affects the outcome. With this project it made me have to take some time to actually get my thoughts together about what I was going to make. Usually I can think of something right then and there but this one really made you think. The reason for this is because the themes weren't your everyday type of themes. They were different and caused you to think outside of the box a little bit. I enjoyed this color project!

Two In One Project

In Progress:
In art class we are doing a "Two in One" project. For my piece, I have decided to draw a sun wearing sunglasses and sticking its tongue out. Also, on the tongue is a wave resembling a wave in an ocean. The reason why I chose to draw this is because i'm extremely ready for summertime! I love everything about it because it's just really relaxing and fun and you don't have to go to school. I am using a regular pencil for now because I like the look of just pencil drawings. Later on in this project I might decide to use a different material on it but for now i'm sticking with pencil. I have had some difficulties along the way though. It's hard to make the final image look the same as the plan out sketch. The first difficult thing I ran into was drawing the circle for the sun. At first it looked like the shape of a head but after going through multiple erasers, I got it right where I wanted it to be. The last thing I seemed to have trouble with was drawing the mouth. Sometimes I tend to make the lips bigger than the eyes or just big in general but I managed to make it look proportional to the figure. After all is said and done, I actually think this will come out pretty good.

Finished:
Below is my finished piece for my Two in One project. Behind the sun I chose to add more details because it looks better when you don't leave white spots on the paper. I think my finished product came out great. I'm proud about everything I did (mainly the sun features). If I had to pick out something that I believe I would've done better was on the mouth area. The lips and the teeth could have used more detail but even with that being said, it looked great. If I was allowed to go back and change one thing in this art piece i would probably choose to redo the teeth. The reason for this is because I think if I spent a little more time on that area then it would look more realistic. I incorporated the theme "Two in One" by putting waves on the suns tongue, which resembles summer time. I really enjoyed this project because the teacher allowed us to use our own imagination and do what we pleased while at the same time doing what was required. Also, the materials used for this project depended on basically what we wanted to use. For a first project I think I did well. I'm looking forward to bettering my artistic skills!
